Hand-Holding Human

About Hannah

I’m Hannah and I offer therapies and practical tools that enable and empower you to move forward in your life in the way you’d like too.

I am passionate about supporting individuals to overcome personal challenges and safely resolve trauma and emotionally-charged experiences from the past so that feel liberated and have the space and the motivation to create a happy and fulfilling life.

Hannah MorrishSupporting and helping others to uncover their true desires, identifying what brings them simple happiness, that helps their star to rise so they can live the beautiful life they deserve brings me a lot of joy.  This can often mean untangling ourselves from the past and I will work with you to resolve uncomfortable memories and experiences so that you feel like you have found the resolution you need to move forward.

I have experienced anxiety and depression too.

I didn’t wake up one day and decide to become a therapist, I’ve walked the walk too. I had a breakdown in my late twenties and it completely changed my life. My body responded with shingles (a sure-fire sign I was also suffering from burn-out) and it gave me the time I needed to heal my depression and anxiety. At the time I had just started working with a therapist to uncover what was going on and it empowered me to make new lifestyle choices. This meant I made the active decision to say goodbye to my successful human resources career in London and a daily four hour commute.

It was the best thing I ever did.

This experience taught me to trust the obstacles that had been set out in front of me and those that had fallen behind me. That all of the challenges, the hard times and our grief are always lessons and opportunities to learn. These experiences nudge us to review and re-think our direction, empowering us to open doors we may have missed before.

I made the decision to re-train as a solution-focused hypnotherapist and psychotherapist over six years ago and here I am. I adore what I do. When I witness that break-through, when I see them letting go, watching their healing taking place, the relief wash over them, the hole once full of angst, now filled with a soothing tranquility, peace and anticipation for a beautiful future, it reminds me that I never, ever, want to stop doing this work.

Why work with me?

I work from a gentle, heart-centred place. Weaving together a blend of techniques, compassion and love to create a space for you that will enable you to resolve the issues and create your own freedom from the original problem.

Becoming a hand-holding human

Hand-holding [noun]  \ hand-hold·ing | \ ˈhan(d)-ˌhōl-diŋ

the provision of careful support or guidance to someone during a learning process, a time of healing or a period of change.

At the beginning my learning came from watching the way my Nanny lived. She had lived with depression for fifty-years of her life and it manifested through a lengthy period of trauma. During my training as a psychotherapist and hypnotherapist six years ago it gave me a deeper understanding of her behaviour, her experience, the way her mind worked and why. If she’d had access to the therapeutic tools, knowledge and skills I now possess, life would have been very different for her.

It’s because of her that I am a hand-holding human.

You see, she loved the way I held her hand, the connection soothed her and she taught me so much about the healing power of touch. And as I progressed in my career as a therapist I introduced EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and Matrix Re-Imprinting in to my practice which meant that at points of guiding my clients, I would support their hand in my mine. They told me that this had a hugely calming and soothing effect and it became a vital healing component to my work. This is especially effective when I am supporting individuals to resolve grief, trauma and highly emotionally-charged memories.

As I have grown through my work I have incorporated my yoga practice into my offering. Here I also fully embody ‘hand-holding human’, offering light touch massage around the forehead and jaw with essential and aromatic oils. This has become essential in my work and the yogis I guide adore it.

When my Nanny died she gave me the greatest gift, an experience that guided me to train as a soul midwife – an holistic companion and friend to those who are dying. Although she had her faith she was very fearful of dying and death (like so many of us are) and I was able to be at her side, vigil and hold space for her. She passed peacefully with my mum by her side and I arrived a few minutes later. I sat beside her drinking tea and holding her hand for another hour – it was a truly precious and sacred time and when I said my final goodbye to her a part of me asked ‘how can I support others to die in the way that they wish, soothed and peaceful?’ It wasn’t long after that I discovered Soul Midwifery.

I now volunteer for the Martlets Hospice in Hove, I vigil and sit with humans who are dying who don’t have family and have asked that they have someone with them. It’s an absolute honour and such important work. I also volunteer as a community companion for St Barnabas in Worthing. In this role I’m a friend to someone who is palliative and I spend time with them weekly. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to be a small part of someone’s life at this time and support them and their family.

Mentor and guide, Within Sight Training

I have mentored students working towards their Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy Diploma over the last three years. As a mentor I am their cheerleader, supporting them as they progress through their learning. I’m on hand to support skills development and guide them through any obstacles or challenges they feel they are facing.

I also now assess students in their 1-2-1 client sessions, providing them with an extensive feedback report that enables them to continue developing their skills and become a knowledgable and effective practitioner.

I started working with Hannah earlier this year after experiencing quite severe anxiety – and I am so grateful that I did! It was so comforting to speak to someone who could empathise and offer me guidance to feel better. Her wisdom and insightfulness really help you get to the heart of what you are experiencing and her kind nature creates such a safe space to explore things. Although there is still healing work that I am doing I feel like I have my life back again. Which is so amazing! I really can’t recommend working with her highly enough, she has helped me so much. Thank you Hannah! ~ D, Hove

I cannot recommend a session with Hannah enough. I have worked with Hannah through a few EFT sessions and I must say she is one of the most beautiful and warm people I have ever met. Her approach and genuine care for individuals is visible in each session as well as in her aftercare messages.

Whether you wish to be happier or simply overcome past trauma, she will enable you to work through past experiences and truly make peace. Her attention to detail is unmatched as well. There is no need to repeat things several times as she is attuned to what she hears and will move you through past or present memories, feelings, and emotions with ease.

Hannah is a gifted healer and empath and I would strongly recommend her without hesitation. ~ A, Portslade
